SILVER MEDALS FOR CUATRO RAYAS AND AZUMBRE AT THE INTERNATIONAL SAUVIGNON COMPETITION

The two wines from the Cuatro Rayas Winery, made entirely from the Sauvignon Blanc varietal, have been honored with Silver Medals. La Seca (Valladolid), March 21, 2012. - Cuatro Rayas‘ Sauvignon varietal has again been honored in international competition, the International Sauvignon Competition held in Belgium‘s capital. In addition, the limited production Azumbre Sauvignon received accolades. Both wines, made entirely from the Sauvignon Blanc varietal, are notable for their intense aroma and freshness. Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon is made from vines aged up to 20 years, planted in alluvium earth in the Rueda Appellation. Boasting a straw yellow color with a steely surface, this is an ample wine appealing to the nose with a citrus base. Smooth and balanced on the palate with hints of passionfruit and pineapple. Azumbre Sauvignon is elaborated from a selection of the Winery‘s oldest vines, each over 25 years old, producing a bouquet of highly intense aromas with tropical notes and a minty finish. The International Sauvignon Competition celebrated its third edition with clearly defined objectives: to encourage the promotion of quality Sauvignon Blanc wine, boost its production and consumption, and educate the public on the richness of this varietal.

GOLD MEDAL FOR CUATRO RAYAS SAUVIGNON AT THE BERLINER WEIN TROPHY

The Gold Medal bestowed by the jury at Berlin‘s international competition, one of the most significant in the world, endorses the great trajectory of the Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon. La Seca (Valladolid), February 27, 2012. - Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon wine has been awarded a Gold Medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy (Berlin‘s international competition) among nearly 6,000 wines from 31 wine-producing countries. This most recent recognition highlights the quality of this wine, which, despite having only three vintages brought to market thus far, is one of the most prized Sauvignon Blancs from the Rueda denomination. DWM- Deutsche Wein Marketing GmbH hosts Berlin‘s international competition, which is sponsored by the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and is recognized by Berlin‘s Senate and the European Union. Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon was presented in 2009 as the Winery‘s latest offering to complete its line of varietals. Since its launch, the wine has received national and international acclaim. Distinguished accolades include the Gold Medal at the 2009 Zarcillo Awards, the Silver Medal at London‘s International Wine Challenge, nearly 90 points rated by noted wine gurus Robert Parker and the Peñin Guide, and the Silver Baco prizes conferred by the Spanish Association of Wine Tasters upon the 2009 and 2010 vintages.

CUATRO RAYAS WINERY SALES REACH 12 MILLION BOTTLES IN 2011, SURPASSING THE GROWTH OF THE RUEDA APPELLATION

January 13, 2012. - The Cuatro Rayas Winery, located in La Seca, closed out 2011 with a 20% growth in sales, selling a record 12 million bottles. Not only did this 20% increase exceed the Winery‘s own expectations of a 12% sales increase as forecast in June, it also surpassed that of the Rueda Appellation, which came in at 13.44%. Cuatro Rayas products make up over 20% of the total production of the Rueda Appellation, which is 1.5% of the quality wines classified by an appellation. The La Seca Winery is positioned as the growth engine of its appellation. With today‘s bleak and complex outlook, Cuatro Rayas wines, elaborated mostly from the Verdejo varietal native to the area, have successfully established themselves through an excellent price-to-quality ratio that appeals to the end consumer. "Together with our sales efforts, marketing, and brand image, this has contributed to improving the renown of Cuatro Rayas and gain market share", said Guillermo Perez, the Winery‘s Sales Director. The Winery‘s forecast for 2012 continues to be optimistic. "Our sales strategy will focus on growing the international market, maintaining our leadership in the domestic market, and continuing to grow the line of Cuatro Rayas wines", said Mr. Perez. Cuatro Rayas branded products make up 25% of the Winery‘s total production of its entire lineup: Cuatro Rayas Verdejo, the flagship offering, Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon, Cuatro Rayas Barrel Fermented, Cuatro Rayas Sparkling - selected in December as the best of Castille and Leon - and Cuatro Rayas Centennial Vineyards.

CUATRO RAYAS, THE FIRST COOPERATIVE IN CASTILE AND LEON TO CALCULATE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF ONE OF ITS WINES

The Winery from the Rueda appellation has conducted a study, conforming to the PAS2050:2008 standard, of the environmental impact of its Cuatro Rayas Verdejo wine. La Seca (Valladolid), October 26, 2011. - The Cuatro Rayas Winery, in collaboration with the Arce Group, has conducted a study regarding the carbon footprint of its best-selling wine, Cuatro Rayas Verdejo, in an attempt to discover the real impact of one bottle of wine on the environment. Accordingly, a precise analysis was made of the emission of greenhouse gases produced by a bottle of wine during its lifespan - from its raw materials to its processing, distribution, consumption, and disposal or recycling. With this carbon footprint calculation, the Winery seeks to analyze the real impact that a bottle of wine has on the environment, and therefore on climate change. This study was undertaken as part of the Winery‘s policy on social responsibility. It will allow the Winery to identify steps leading to the short-term reduction of the emissions created by its wine production. This measure extends Cuatro Rayas Winery‘s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

CUATRO RAYAS INCREASES SALES 12% IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2011

With almost 6 million bottles sold, the Winery‘s growth surpasses the average in the D.O. Rueda La Seca (Valladolid), July 28, 2011. - Cuatro Rayas Winery closed the first half of 2011 with sales growth of 12%, reaching 5.8 million bottles sold. This increase beat the average in the Rueda denomination, which grew 10.35% according to published figures. This growth is based primarily on an increase in market share of Cuatro Rayas wines nationally and internationally. In the latter channel, the Winery has grown sales volume over 70% year over year. Thus, "the Winery‘s strong commitment to improve the renown of the Cuatro Rayas brand is bearing fruit". So, "the sponsorship of the premier team of the Valladolid Handball Club, the increased staffing of the sales and communications departments, the updating of the website, and the presence in social networks, among other strategies, have helped to improve the brand‘s image and gain market share", according to Guillermo Perez, the Winery‘s Sales Director.

CUATRO RAYAS INTRODUCES AN INNOVATIVE PROMOTION BASED ON TWO DIMENSIONAL QR BARCODES

The Winery promotes its Dolce Bianco brand through a two dimensional barcode (QR) used to download information and win hundreds of prizes. La Seca (Valladolid), July 9, 2011. - In just its first month on the market, Dolce Bianco has already become a revolution. In addition to being met with rave reviews by critics and Winery clients alike, Dolce Bianco has become a pioneering and innovative wine in the use of new technologies, including a two dimensional QR barcode on its labels. The QR is a two-dimensional barcode that stores all kinds of information. It can be scanned with an internet-ready cellphone (smartphone) camera to display a message, a link to a website, videos, or music. It‘s part of a new digital marketing strategy developed by the Winery which captures the two-dimensional code on the bottle‘s label to link the consumer to a microsite (www.cuatrorayas.org/dolcebianco) containing product information and various promotions offering hundreds of prizes. "In addition to being an innovative tool integrated into our developing global online communication strategy, this promotion serves as a means to bring the wine to a younger demographic, the main users of smartphones, and also promote the technology to new users", said Ana del Fraile, Communications Director for Cuatro Rayas.
