CUATRO RAYAS VS MARTIN CODAX, THE DUEL OF THE TITANS

Alimentaria was the place chosen by Javier Pérez de Andrés, renowned culinary journalist, to carry out one of the biggest duels of the season facing the indigenous variety from Castillia, VERDEJO, represented by the prestigious winery CUATRO RAYAS, with the Galician ALBARIÑO, represented by MARTIN CODAX.

On March 24th in the unique setting of ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA, with over 150,000 visitors from all over the world,  the  “Duel of the Titans” has taken Place;  Verdejo versus Albariño led by Javier Perez de Andres with the two most representative wineries of both varieties: Cuatro Rayas by VERDEJO and Martin Codax by ALBARIÑO. These two vines are the most representative among the Spanish white wines, with a clear international dimension.

The question has always been there, Which one is better? What variety will you choose? The result has been a technical tie by both the wineries, and the more than 70 attendees that attended the Roundtable.  When asked the question by Javier Pérez de Andrés, which of the wines tasted they liked the most?  they were not able to ditacte a winner as they considered that each variety to have its own character.

 BODEGA CUATRO RAYAS for its part said the importance of being the bearer of the VERDEJO DO RUEDA and it takes pride in having defended with great honor the variety with its CUATRO RAYAS VIÑEDOS CENTENARIOS; the new verdejo have launched earlier this year and is already available in LAVINIA and in high-end restaurants such as  Arzak, Akelarre, and Mugaritz.
