SILVER MEDALS FOR CUATRO RAYAS AND AZUMBRE AT THE INTERNATIONAL SAUVIGNON COMPETITION

The two wines from the Cuatro Rayas Winery, made entirely from the Sauvignon Blanc varietal, have been honored with Silver Medals.

La Seca (Valladolid), March 21, 2012. - Cuatro Rayas‘ Sauvignon varietal has again been honored in international competition, the International Sauvignon Competition held in Belgium‘s capital. In addition, the limited production Azumbre Sauvignon received accolades.

Both wines, made entirely from the Sauvignon Blanc varietal, are notable for their intense aroma and freshness. Cuatro Rayas Sauvignon is made from vines aged up to 20 years, planted in alluvium earth in the Rueda Appellation. Boasting a straw yellow color with a steely surface, this is an ample wine appealing to the nose with a citrus base. Smooth and balanced on the palate with hints of passionfruit and pineapple. Azumbre Sauvignon is elaborated from a selection of the Winery‘s oldest vines, each over 25 years old, producing a bouquet of highly intense aromas with tropical notes and a minty finish.

The International Sauvignon Competition celebrated its third edition with clearly defined objectives: to encourage the promotion of quality Sauvignon Blanc wine, boost its production and consumption, and educate the public on the richness of this varietal.
